Fit for everything: Health and the ideology of authenticity
There is something unquestionably good about feeling good. When the body is not screaming from pain and when the head is not seized by ill-spirited daemons we can concentrate on what seems most meaningful to us, whether this is to spend time with family and friends or indulge in pleasurable activities like yoga, French cooking or sex.
Who is Yum-Yum? A cartoon state in the making
The present article presents an analysis of the campaign ‘Healthy through play’, organized by the Danish Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Fisheries. ‘Healthy through play’ is aimed particularly at vulnerable families and their willingness, knowledge, and capacity to live a healthy lifestyle with respect to both food and exercise. In general terms, the campaign exists as one among a larger number of campaigns that have been launched over the course of the past decade, directed at citizens and their administration of their own lives.
Health at work
In April 2011 Andre Spicer, Torkild Thanem, Lisbeth Ryden and Michael Pedersen arranged a one-day workshop at Lund University on the topic of health at work. The workshop addressed the organization, management and implementation of workplace health; power and discipline in work health promotion; identity-work and body-work in the pursuit of healthy life-styles and practices of coping and resistance in workplace health promotion.
