Matt Stahl

Matt Stahl is an assistant professor of media studies in the Faculty of Information and Media Studies at the University of Western Ontario, where he is also a member of the Digital Labour Research Group. His work explores the representation and regulation of cultural labour and property and has appeared in refereed journals and edited volumes. Stahl’s monograph Unfree Masters: Popular Music and the Politics of Work (forthcoming, Duke University Press) examines television and film representations of recording artists and their public contestations with record companies over laws that govern their contractual relationships.
